» hiddeneurope - Spas in Central and Eastern Europe

Encouraged by the serendipitous mention of our magazine - ie. hidden europe at http://www.hiddeneurope.co.uk -here on Suite 101 over the past month or two, we were motivated to register with Suite 101. You mention spas. Gellert and Heviz are clear front runners. But we'd really encourage Suite 101 aficionados to delve a little more into European spa culture. One of the very first spas (an Ur-Spa, dare we venture to suggest) was that founded by Vincent Preissnitz in the Moravian Hills. Nowadays known as Lazne Jesinik, this little known spa in the northern Czech Republic oozes history, and with rooms for as little as €15 a night, it is a budget traveller's dream. We featured it in the September 2005 issue of hidden europe magazine. Hope this is of interest.
