Out of Moscow, Mosnews has regularly updated articles and features, and the Moscow News is updated daily and includes English translations of articles originally published in Russian. From St Petersburg, the St Petersburg Times features more local news as well as reports from all over Russia. In the ex-USSR, the Belarusian Telegraph Agency site reports news from Belarus and the Ukrainian Observer is a magazine style source of information.
Representing the Czech Republic, Prague is the home of two useful online newspapers, the Prague Post and the Prague Daily Monitor. Further south, Bratislava is home to the daily updated Slovak Spectator.
The best English-language online newspaper covering Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania is the Baltic Times, published weekly: you do need a subscription, however. Smaller resources from the individual country come and go; Latvians Online, for example, is a useful resource about Latvia.
Croatia’s Nacional tends to focus heavily on economic and political news, but still has some useful information. In Bulgaria, the Sofia Echo and Bulgarian Post and in Romania, the Bucharest Daily News, all provide interesting updates on the region.
The best up-to-date news on Poland can be found in the Warsaw Voice; Hungary’s Budapest Sun does the same for its region.
